Mirko Ruckels from Deepspace

The official website for Deepspace seemed to be having some troubles when I went to look at it, but from their last.fm profile I can tell you that Deepspace is Mirko Ruckels from Brisbane. I can also tell you that he makes very tasty ambient synthesiser tracks, often with the feeling of incidental music for some sci-fi epic or astronomy documentary.

His track Slow Moving Lifeform 2 featured in our first episode. It comes from the album Slow Moving Lifeforms volume 1. Other albums include The Barometric Sun, The Barometric Sea – all available from CD Baby – and Another Empty Galaxy which is available as a free download.

I’m listening to a selection of Deepspace’s tracks right now, and what it’s most putting me in mind of is very early Tangerine Dream, although a comparison to Aix em Klemm would also be very relevant.

Andrew Cauthen

Andrew Cauthen makes cool synth/ambient/drone music. The track Raw Babe features on our first episode.

Andrew releases music on his own label Take Pills Die and there are several albums available for free download.

One of Andrew’s other main passions seems to be skateboarding – check out the video below…

Sargon EP by Akshak

Akshak‘s track Sargon – a fine piece of post rock guitarism – appears in our first episode.

They’re rather a mysterious band – I can’t find any mention of them having released anything other than this one track. They’re affiliated with the label Ratt-a-tu-ju SP, and so presumably have some connection with the Italian band Rattatuju.

The names Akshak and Sargon both appear to come from the mythology of Sumeria.

Other than that there’s really not a lot I can tell you. Anyone out there know any more?

4th Alternative

4th Alternative, whose track Mote appears in our first episode, is the musical project of Rob “Bombardier” Davies from Brentwood, England. Rob has a variety of musical styles, but what he seems to keep coming back to are slightly creepy soundscapes with lots of synth pads.
